Tri-Cities Mommy Connections 2

Tri-Cities, B.C. Director

My name is Meghan Simington and the new regional Director for Mommy Connections in the TriCities of Greater Vancouver. Mommy Connections is truly an ‘Ah Ha Moment’ for me, and had me realize that there are so many women out there with the same philosophy and vision in creating a community for new families.

I recently moved to the area in 2009 when I found out I was expecting my son Stefan (now 13 months),my sons father recommended we look at the TriCities. I instantly fell in love when I discovered of Rocky Point in Port Moody, Buntzen Lake hiking and of course having great shopping walking distance from my house. As an avid lover of the outdoors it was a hard move from North Vancouver and a previous life of regular travel between Vancouver and Toronto as I was running a chain of 5 stores across Canada. Once finding out I was expecting my whole life changed and I realized it wasn’t all about me and work. Life was now about having time to focus on our family and setting up solid roots in a great community.

I was fortunate enough to find a fantastic Pre-Natal class that ran for 8 weeks in the TriCities. This group led to meeting 9 of my closest friends during my maternity leave. I was now celebrating the life of a stay at home mom and couldn’t image going back to the endless travel for work and stresses of my business. I was able to share the most intimate of issues and discuss all the emotional choices I had to make. When our class wrapped up we reconnected on Facebook as CoquitlamMommy.ca and our group grew in numbers. As our group grew I began to branch out on with what I wanted to offer moms. We were covering everything from walking groups to playdates, charity fundraisers and later on volunteering for a community run program through the local Rec Center.

I have since become passionate about offering more and facilitating information for moms. Mommy Connections allows moms to benefit from the type of close relationships I had created in my Pre-Natal Class. There is a true benefits in creating a ‘village to raise a child’ and getting as much knowledge on all the choices we make. Mommy Connections offers just this for new moms; information and connections for mothers building their own ‘village.’

Hi Meghan,

Can you recommend any pre-natal classes in the Tri-Cities area that will start anytime between Dec 2011-March 2012?

Thanks,

Michelle
