How can I prevent gingivitis?

Gingivitis, also known as periodontitis, is a common oral health condition that you can find among people in today’s world. When you get gingivitis, you will experience a mild inflammation in your gums. This is a frustrating and a painful health condition. Therefore, it is important for you to have a clear understanding on how to prevent getting this form of gum disease.

1.) Brush your teeth and gums at least two times a day

It is best if you can make it a habit to brush your teeth and gums at least two times a day. In addition, you need to use an interdental cleaner of a floss in order to clean your teeth as well. When you are brushing your teeth, you should be careful to brush at the gum line. This is where the plaque builds up in your mouth. In other words, gingivitis starts from the gum line. Mix together 1-tablespoon of sea salt with 1-cup of warm water and swish it around your gums for about two minutes and spit out. Do this every day until you feel better.

Sage contains cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties and has been used to treat gingivitis for centuries. Just chop up a sage leaf or apply the dry leaf directly onto the affected area. Leave it there for about three minutes and rinse with filtered water. Do this at least three to four times a week for better results.

Curcumin found in turmeric has antioxidant/antimicrobial properties and is great to reduce inflammation. Turmeric cleanses the infected gums and helps in the healing process. Simply combine three teaspoons of turmeric with about two to three -tablespoons of filtered water or pound up some fresh turmeric roots and brush this paste onto your teeth and gums with a gentle toothbrush. Do this every day until you see results. 3.) Scrape your tongue
