Hello, Cape Breton! My name is Sarah, and I am thrilled to be a part of Mommy Connections in a whole new way as program director, helping make your parenting journeys a little bit better. I have been a teacher since 2009, but the birth of my daughter in 2014 saw my career take a drastic pivot from the classroom. I now support perinatal families through prenatal education and birth support as a certified childbirth educator, birth doula, and infant massage instructor for my own birth business: Belle Vie Birth & Baby. I genuinely love anything and everything to do with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
The concept of building your village is so aligned with what I already do. Connection and community are my goals in everything I do as a teacher, as an entrepreneur, and as a mother. I want families to feel welcomed, respected, heard, and supported, no matter how they parent.
My journey to Mommy Connections has truly come full circle: starting as a regular program presenter back in 2017 (with my newborn son in tow), then quickly becoming a long-time participant, to facilitating classes, and now being lucky enough to step in as program director. The difference between my two postpartum experiences is very much highlighted by how I had Mommy Connections the second time. Not only did it give me a reason to get out and socialize each week, but the friends I made through the program are still a part of my life—and my son’s.
Cape Breton has always been the home of my heart. Whether you’ve grown up here or have been transplanted, I want you to feel welcome as you create connections and build your village!
