Smallprint West Edmonton

Christmas to me is not just a holiday, it is my absolute favorite time of year! I love the family time, the cheer, the decorating, all the activities and the gift giving!! One of my favorite parts of the holidays is picking out special, thoughtful gifts for each person on my list (I actually start my shopping list at least 6 months early!!) and I feel like there’s bonus points when those perfect gifts have something to do with my adorable babies! This year I found the most adorable gift from Smallprint Edmonton West that hit every point on my list – personal, thoughtful, and everything to do with my sweet babies!

For anyone who hasn’t heard of Smallprint, they specialize in capturing your precious little ones’ fingerprints, handprints, footprints, signature or artwork in silver and then they turn this into the most adorable piece of jewellery. I had the pleasure of meeting Trudy, the owner/operator of Smallprint West Edmonton, back in September when she came into my home to make me my personalized keychain and it was such a great experience! She was so informative, easy going and great with my kids and I didn’t have to pack my kids up to go ANYWHERE!! Trudy made the process simple and quick, which I’m sure isn’t easy when trying to get fingerprints from an 8 month old and 2 year old! There were tons of choices: from the type of piece that you want (necklace, keychain, cuff links, bracelets, and the most adorable Christmas ornaments!), to the shape of the piece, to whether you want hand/foot/fingerprints! One of the best parts beyond the finished product, was that there was no mess either in my house or on my children, making clean up a blast!

I am absolutely in love with my new keychain and will treasure it forever! If you are looking for similar keepsakes, or amazing Christmas gifts for the loved ones in your life, I highly recommend getting in touch with Trudy from Smallprint Edmonton West! About Jen

Hi! My name is Jen and I am the new director for Mommy Connections Beaumont and Leduc area! I am currently the proud mom of one sweet little girl, Kaidalyn (7 months) and hope to be adding to our family...eventually! A little background about me I guess. I have always worked with children in one way or another and eventually worked my way to having a BA in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work. Most of my adult work has been working in the Human Services sector, through group care and foster care programs in the city. This experience has really shown me the importance of a support network and feeling of community when raising children! I'm one of those people who believe that, although we work to make our own path, sometimes things happen for a reason and that's how I fell into this role! I moved to Beaumont from Sherwood Park July 2014, one month after my baby was born and felt out of place and kind of isolated, even though my friends were only 20 minutes away. I asked around some of the Facebook Beaumont mom pages, got pointed towards Mommy Connections and signed up immediately! I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was a lot of information that has helped a lot in raising my daughter so far, a chance to get out of the house and meet other moms who were going through some of the same stuff I was, and an opportunity to make lasting connections within my community. It's amazing how quickly I found a place in this community, and how quickly it has become home to me! Anyhow, I don't know how everyone else feels about the idea of going back to work full-time, but I know that the anxiety it was already giving me was huge by the time my baby was only 4 months old. I would have to be commuting approximately an hour each way every day, leaving my baby for over 10 hours per day, and the thought of this was driving me crazy. I was given the advice (multiple times) to stop worrying about it because it would work out, and then all of a sudden I got a magic little email telling me that the director position had opened up in Beaumont and Leduc!! I remember not knowing if I should laugh or cry when I got the position!! I have always been big into community and have dreamed of living in a community where my children can play in the street (safely of course!) or bike to the park without me worrying, and I can walk into a place and say hi to everyone! I believe that this is that community and programs like Mommy Connections help to establish this feeling! I know what it is like not knowing anyone in the area and feeling isolated; I quickly discovered that being a mother is the most amazing, rewarding job out there, but it can be very lonely. Having a support network of other mothers is a gift and tool that is so crucial, and Mommy Connections is the perfect way for me to help promote and share this tool with others in my area!! I'm really excited to start this journey with my little one and hope I get to meet you and your little one(s) really soon!
