Easy Meals for Munchkins

I don’t know about you, but meal times in our house have become quite the hassle. I was the mom who said I would never cook separate meals for my kids and yet a couple of months ago there I was preparing what felt like 50 different offerings for one meal. It was getting out of control and doubling the time it normally took for me to get food on the table.

Sister Bear is going through a ‘Make Friends with Salad’ phase, Brother Bear is carnivorous like Daddy Bear, and Baby Bear likes a little bit of everythin. Add to that the fact that my kids are strange tiny humans who don’t like casseroles, lasagnas, or anything that comes all mixed together and we have the perfect storm. It’s perfect for my minis because it keeps the foods from touching and allows me to plate their foods based on taste.

These are easy meals that both my 2-year-old and 4-year-old love. They take very little time to prepare and I change the portions for each depending on their taste. Sister Bear loves salad so that’s what goes in her biggest section. Brother Bear doesn’t love lettuce so I usually throw some cucumber and carrots in his small section. The kids love that their food doesn’t touch and I love that my cooking time has significantly decreased.

Meal 1: Nature’s Path Pumpkin Spice waffles + Bananas + Mango

Meal 2: French Toast + Back Bacon + Blueberries

Meal 3: Blueberry Bagel w/ Cherry Chia Jam + Grapes + Cantaloupe

Meal 4: Jasmine Rice + De-boned Chicken Wings + Salad

Meal 5: Blackened Fish + Homemade Pizza Dough Roll + Salad

Meal 6: Lemon Pepper Chicken + Bucatini w/ Mushroom Cream Sauce + Salad

I try to vary our meals as often as I can so that my kiddos get to experience different types of food. They don’t always eat it all but I have a rule that says they must at least try a bite from each area and that seems to work.
