Meet our Mommy Bloggers

01/28/2017

I’m so excited for our new Mommy Bloggers! We will be posting 1-2 new blogs each week on a variety of topics including: learning to say no, going back to work, fed is best, pelvic health, breastfeeding, secondary infertility, the decision to have a third baby, mommy self care, body image, gender stereotypes in parenting and so much more! These ladies have some amazing ideas and I can’t want to share them with you!

Christina Hnatiuk

My name is Christina Hnatiuk. I am a new mom of a 6 month old baby boy, Marshall. I am married to a wonderful man, we will have been together for 5 years, married for two. I work full time in Human Resources and part time as a Ukrainian dance instructor. I love to try new things, especially new restaurants and food. In my free time, which is hardly ever, I love to bake, specializing in cheesecakes. This is my first time writing a blog but I am looking forward to sharing my adventures in parenting with everyone!

Marissa Leffler

I am a wife and a mother to a beautiful baby boy. I am an avid animal lover, with an extreme affection for rescue dogs. I have a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and a love for studying early childhood development. However, most of what I know I have thrown out the window since becoming a mom (haha). I have worked as a behaviour therapist for Autistic children and as a research coordinator. Running is my therapy, Country Music is my jam, my dogs make me happy, my family and friends mean everything to me, and my son makes my life complete.

Valerie Caron

My name is Valerie Caron and i am a new mum to our four month old daughter. I am a physiotherapist that loves to read, play board games, and spend time laughing with friends and family. As a family we like to travel, camp and watch too much Netflix

Cierra Giesbrecht

Hi, I’m Cierra and I was born and raised right here in Saskatoon.  I am a brand new mom to a beautiful baby girl, a loving wife, budding entrepreneur, and lover of all things girly.  I believe that life is exactly what you make it, love conquers all, and to never stop learning.  I love coffee, make-up, home décor, DIYing and reality TV (guilty pleasure okay!). Through my posts on the blog, I hope to tell a story and speak on topics that people can relate to, even if they aren’t widely talked about or discussed.  Since I am a brand new mom, every day is something new for me.  So let’s learn together and build each other up, because let’s face it, this mom thing is hard and we need all the help we can get! To continue keeping up with me off the blog, follow me on Instagram @Ciierrajade.

Erin McCrea

My name is Erin McCrea. I’m a Momma, a pet Momma, and a writer. I had my first baby at age 35 in May of 2016. Becoming a mom was the scariest thing I’ve ever done, and I have loved every moment of it. I blog at  http://erinisawriter.blogspot.ca/, but haven’t done a lot since Anthony arrived. It’s my goal to be a consistent Writing Mom by the time his birthday arrives. I’m shy, caring, weird, bossy, and I try to be happy every day. My baby helps with that.”

Nicole Betker

Amanda Brindley

Hi! I’m Amanda Brindley. I have a 23 month old little girl named Molly (she’s not 2 yet!|) I’m also the owner of Fitbump – a fitness studio specializing in Prenatal & Postnatal fitness. I grew up in rural Saskatchewan, and went to the U of S. I lived in the mountains for awhile (miss them) , spent 4 years living in Edinburgh, Scotland (absolutely amazing) where I met my husband. We moved back to Saskatoon, got pregnant, had Molly and opened Fitbump in the space of two years so it’s been a whirlwind to say the least.Being a mom and running a business is pretty challenging so I like to keep it real, with a bit of humour along the way. I don’t think anything can really prepare you for motherhood, but I feel like the more honest we are about mom life the less of a shock it can be to new moms.I am passionate about making motherhood less lonely, and creating a village where we can connect with each other, whether it be through social media or in person. I’m excited about this blogging opportunity and the opportunity to reach some more amazing moms!  Check out Fitbump’s Facebook page to see what I’m all about.

Julia Dawn

Hello! My name is Julia Dawn and I am a singer-songwriter, blogger, hula hooper, worship leader, and full-time Mom. My little girl was born May 2016 and has turned our lives into a beautiful chaotic whirlwind.  I live for her giggles, make it through the day with re-heated coffee and unwind with beautiful stationary and a nice fountain pen in my hands. Oh, how I love my stationary. My goal is to be real, raw and honest about Mom life, marriage, friendships and living life with passion.

We’ve been married for 2 years and our awesome Son is 1. I waited a long time for my dream family, and absolutely love our busy, crazy, fun life with our Son and 2 pups.

Life has thrown its curve balls, so we are navigating new waters where I can be home with our little guy. www.skippingstonesdesign.ca

Elyse Lalonde

Elyse Lalonde has always called Saskatoon home. She started on the motherhood journey in the Summer of 2015 when she had her son. Elyse is a working mom, always seeking a fine balance in life with a busy toddler. As a MommyConnections “alumnus,” she enjoys socializing with moms and babies her son’s age. Elyse has always enjoyed writing and journaling, and hopes to share her experiences (good, bad, and sarcastic) with the online parenting community in Saskatoon.

Amanda Braschuk

My name is Amanda Braschuk. I’ve been married to my amazing husband Paul for 5 years, together for 8.  He works away from home which can make life a little crazy when I’m parenting solo.  My daughter Zoey is 2.5 years old, she is the most beautiful little girl I’ve ever seen.  My son Asher is one, he is incredibly handsome and really mischievous.  I also have two dogs who think they are human, which is only fair because in this house fur babies are family too!

I’m a stay at home mom and very thankful for a husband who works extremely hard allowing me this time with our children.  Before kids I worked in the service industry for 17 years. I am friendly, enjoy meeting new people and I love talking (too much if you ask Paul). These characteristics kept me in the industry so long because it was constantly engaging. I also worked in accounting, timekeeping and administrative positions.

I love reading, music and Mother Nature.  I am a daydreamer with an overactive imagination. I’m rather scared of everything.  My kids have made me stronger and they have made me brave.  If I can grow a human and conquer labour & delivery – what is left to fear? I’ve never written publically before but for years I have written poetry and kept journals – to myself.  I’m looking forward to sharing motherhood/parenting adventures with everyone.

Jillian Guenter

I’m a 24-year-old wife and new mom to our daughter “Baby G”, as I refer to her in my blogs.  She is the new adventure in our marriage and the smile bringer to our everyday.  She is the main character in my stories lately, as she teaches me something new every day.  I love writing about her and the everyday happenings of mommy life, so I’m extremely excited to join this blogging group!

Debbie Favell

Debbie and her family moved to Canada in March 2017 from a small town just outside London, England. Before dipping a tentative toe in writing, Debbie was a Cancer nurse Specialist in London, however, the juggle of childcare, long commutes, family and work commitments with the ever rising costs made this, sadly, an impossible career to continue.

Whilst trying to find a creative outlet and new niche in life Debbie learnt to make tea cup candles, buy craft supplies that never got used and discovered the joys of blogging and writing.

As mum to 4 boys, a new resident of Saskatoon and a relative newcomer to freelance writing, there is always lots going on, creating a new family home in Canada, trying to make new friends and discovering all the things that Saskatoon has to offer.

Her blogs can be found at :www.holdingontightly.wordpress.com www.thenewbritontheblock.com

Debbie on the other hand can be found with her accomplice (toddler Freddie) wondering the aisles in Grocery Stores, Bookstores and the beautiful green outdoor spaces chatting to people that pass by and searching for the perfect coffee and cake destination.
